the remaking of a kitchen

sometime in august i blogged about planting our japanese maple. it's doing fine by the way. anyway, other plants arrived with the maple. i planted them and it went well except for a clematis which died. i wrote to the company and they said they'd send another. last week it arrived, so i planted it carefully according to the directions. it was doing great, looking very healthy. one night there was a possibility of frost so i covered it and then removed the protection and checked in the morning and it still looked great. the following day i went out to check again, and the plant was GONE. there was a shallow hole remaining.....some one must have thought that a healthy plant is a tasty plant.....or something. perhaps we are not destined to have a clematis. i think i'll try again in the spring!
