Textile art at the b and b
i was fascinated by a textile piece on the wall of our b & b and our hostess mary agreed that i could take some photos. the artist's name is natsuko and raymor was the distributor of art of this era.

Dance party, again
what would a visit be without a spontaneous dance party featuring siena and auntie jewlee. this contains francine flipinsky as well as vigorous kickies in double time. accompanying giggles may emerge.

Playing on the porch
siena has suddenly discovered that being on her tummy can be fun. she can pull her arms up and get on her elbows so she can play instead of just quickly flipping to her back. all kinds of new things to discover!
siena discovered another fun game....peeking through the railing lining the front porch. it was really funny.....she would peek and grin each time.
the last photo is her examining very carefully jewlee's sore toe!

Siena in the basket
it was discovered while we visited that a great place for siena in the kitchen is the basket used to carry stuff to the picnic table. she loved being there as can be seen. she was right in the midst of things, but had her own place to watch the action
she and her grandpa had a mini dance party while the cooking was happening.

Meet up at la farine
a fun thing later in the day of the beach was meeting up with my friend maureen from minneapolis at la farine for coffee and a chocolatini. yum yum yum. maureen has a sister in oakland and just happened to visiting at the same time we were. what fun

Ocean beach!
we all went to san francisco, drove through the city and then through golden gate park, across the grand highway and parked by ocean beach. it was a beautiful sunny and warm day and we enjoyed it to the max. david carried siena in a front carrier which she enjoyed. the waves came rolling in and we watched and watched. there is something wonderfully peaceful and almost hypnotic about watching the waves ebb and flow. i wish we could do it more often. alas....the middle of the country is oceanless. hah!
we had lunch at the beach chalet and all the food was really good. siena sat in her first tree which david caught on his camera. lots of adventures for her.

Chillin' on the window seat
siena loves sitting on the window seat in her room and looking out at the garden and watching people. she also LOVES looking at herself in the mirror! she knows who that cute little girl is now....at first she just liked watching, but now she KNOWS! jewlee was reading one book to her while siena munched on another. this is a little one who would literally inhale and ingest her books!

Trying new foods is not always fun!
siena needed some attention to her diet during our visit, so she was exposed to some new things. as you can see from her expression she was not entirely impressed with the apricots or the green beans. she had a bit of prune juice and she would not vote that as a fave either. she is consistently pretty pleased with her food as a general rule and will probably decide that she likes this stuff too. the next day she had some dried cherries and some raisins and those she really like!

Oakland in march
we went to the berkeley marina for a walk on saturday and it was just lovely. not so breezy and comfortable temp. a nice treat. siena seemed to enjoy it all, especially when sarah was leaping around in front of her....giggles galore!
friday afternoon in the pouring rain jewlee and i went to lunch at a great sushi place on college avenue. we had a couple of rolls, some sea weed salad and edamame. yummmmy. it was nice to have the time with her and we had a visit and cleared the air on a couple of issues. a good thing all around. she is really enjoying being a nanny and it's hard to believe she has another career going with her clutter care. she is very creative and entrpreneurial that way!
these few photos are of siena wearing the shorts i found while on a walk the day before we flew to ca. we thought those chunky little thighs were quite adorable in green embroidered shorts!
we are just back from a lovely long weekend in berkeley/oakland. we stayed in a b & b in the berkeley hills above the claremont hotel and it was quite wonderful. it's probably an early 20's large house with all kinds of nice details. it was very comfy and we really liked the owner. of course the main attraction was the fam. we picked up sarah from work on thursday on our way in from the airport and after dropping luggage we went out to dinner at sol's deli which was delish.
then it was back to s and d's house to see jewlee and siena. they were sitting in the window seat, and i really really think siena recognized us! a treat for sure.
she is pretty cute and learning new tricks. these photos show her in front of the mirror in the non-functioning fireplace with jewlee and sarah. she had to turn around once and smile at the photographer. :)

Winter view
this photo was taken at night through the kitchen window over the sink. it's looking out through the icicles hanging from the eaves.
Best christmas video evahhhhh
