Oakland in march

we went to the berkeley marina for a walk on saturday and it was just lovely. not so breezy and comfortable temp. a nice treat. siena seemed to enjoy it all, especially when sarah was leaping around in front of her....giggles galore!
friday afternoon in the pouring rain jewlee and i went to lunch at a great sushi place on college avenue. we had a couple of rolls, some sea weed salad and edamame. yummmmy. it was nice to have the time with her and we had a visit and cleared the air on a couple of issues. a good thing all around. she is really enjoying being a nanny and it's hard to believe she has another career going with her clutter care. she is very creative and entrpreneurial that way!

these few photos are of siena wearing the shorts i found while on a walk the day before we flew to ca. we thought those chunky little thighs were quite adorable in green embroidered shorts!

we are just back from a lovely long weekend in berkeley/oakland. we stayed in a b & b in the berkeley hills above the claremont hotel and it was quite wonderful. it's probably an early 20's large house with all kinds of nice details. it was very comfy and we really liked the owner. of course the main attraction was the fam. we picked up sarah from work on thursday on our way in from the airport and after dropping luggage we went out to dinner at sol's deli which was delish.
then it was back to s and d's house to see jewlee and siena. they were sitting in the window seat, and i really really think siena recognized us! a treat for sure.
she is pretty cute and learning new tricks. these photos show her in front of the mirror in the non-functioning fireplace with jewlee and sarah. she had to turn around once and smile at the photographer. :)

Thanksgiving in Palo Alto

we arrived home from oakland last evening.....friend judy drove to the airport to be our personal taxi. very nice of her! we had such a good time. the b and b where we stayed was great.....walking distance from david and sarah, although we drove it. we were very comfortable there, the owner was great and we met some very interesting people over breakfast in the mornings.
our flight from msp left at 7:05 am....not my type of schedule, but that was what we chose as we were not sure of scheduling for t-day activities when we got the tickets. amazingly we arrived almost 45 minutes ahead of eta.....that NEVER happens! the return flight was early also. very strange, but certainly acceptable!
steve and cara were our hosts and thanksgiving dinner was really delicious and the company was most enjoyable! i finally gave up on bringing something from my kitchen and we did other things. i had seen photos of a similar turkey several years ago, and i have to say jeff's was the best i've tasted ....evah! truly tender and moist and herbilicious.....and that doesn't even count the deliciousness of maple drenched bacon over the top of the bird. yum yum. all the california silvers were there except for nancy who was in bed with some flu-like bug. not fair to her or to us who would have liked seeing her!
