Lafayette lunch, d'orsay visit

on our second day in berkeley we drove to lafayette and met friends sandy and dave who live in rossmoor. sandy and don went all the way through school together in their home town. it was fun to see them in their own territory rather then just at a reunion. it was especially nice since they do not plan to attend the reunion this fall. they took us on a tour of rossmoor where they now live, near the city of walnut creek.
we stayed at a b and b we've visited previously and really enjoyed it so much. our hostess pat is just the greatest......very open and friendly.
the next day we had a special treat and i have no photos to prove it! jewlee, don and i drove into san francisco and went to the d'orsay impressionist collection at the deyoung. it was really fabulous. we all enjoyed it immensely. we wandered through on our own and then discovered we were all going back through the exhibit again. it was just lovely to see paintings we had admired in books and videos in the flesh so to speak. it took us several hours to see the entire exhibit, and then we enjoyed a lovely lunch in the cafe there....sitting outside in lovely weather. after that we wandered on the grounds and admired the sculptures in the garden. truly a treat of a day!!
don and i went to the hardware store and got some supplies to repair a "found" wagon for siena. it was found on the curb during an earlier visit and we decided to see if it could be fixed and become usable. it could and did! don brought some supplies and tools from home and was able to get the gas grill to function again with a bit of cleaning and repositioning of the ignitor. yay! that led to a wonderful dinner of grilled mini lamb chops, plus egg plant and zucchinis from david's burgeoning garden! truly fabulous. tara's ice cream seemed to provide the perfect end to the meal.
