the remaking of a kitchen

it's been a busy few weeks around here. our friend neal visited us last weekend and we caught up on his news and travels. this weekend, tom the potter was here and he kept us amused and gave us a beautiful blue vase. looks perfect on the mantle shelf above the fireplace. especially holding a stella d'oro lily.
this evening jess and amy came over and we had some chips and guacamole before going to the good earth. it was a great to see them and i suspect we will really enjoy having them in the area.

these are photos of the wonderful pot tom gave us when he stayed at our house. it is just wonderfully textural....the top has extruded pieces and rolled textured pieces and it is all shaped into a curve bowl on top of a thrown base. the glaze is lovely, it just works with the whole piece to perfection.
we have a terrific collection of tom's work starting in the late 70's....pretty amazing. he just keeps growing and improving, and not only that but he makes me laugh. probably one of the funniest people i know! what a treat for him to visit.
